This was our affordable home design project that we have been working on for about a month now. The task that we were given was to design an affordable home for a client that we surveyed at the very beginning. Based on what the client wanted, we had a design a home for them that was both affordable and appealing as well as within the many building codes that were given. We started with creating several general sketches that gave us a general idea of what our homes would look like. Once we knew what we wanted our homes to look like, we moved on to beginning to design them on Revit which is a virtual designing software. Designing the home is what took up the most of the time but once we finished that, all we had to do was some calculations and we were almost at our final step. We also had to plan out the plumbing system that would be required for our homes. After all of that, we created several sheets containing all different kinds of views ( which you can see below) and a final rendering which makes a realistic view of the final affordable home (which can also be seen below).
Drawings:
- Bubble Sketch
- Rough Sketch
- Final Sketch
Calculations Completed:
- Storm Water Runoff
- Waste Water management
- Actual Water pressure
Conclusion: Overall, i enjoyed this project. Designing a house was pretty cool especially when we had a final product to look at, at the end. I learned that it is extremely important to plan out what you are gonna do before you just start building and putting stuff together. Planning ahead of time will be beneficial for efficient work and the final product itself. My favorite part of this project was completing the rendering at the end so that i could look at my final product that i designed. My least favorite part by far would be all the different calculations that we needed to do.
