List of Problems
We are considering a shoe freshener, a basketball rebounding system, a heated steering wheel cover, a multi-kitchen utensil, solving problems with let handed vs. right handed people, and a card holder for phone cases.
Shoe freshener- We wanted to create something that can keep shoes and other wearable items smelling clean. My partner Ryan and I both have this problem with sports equipment smelling bad and want to see if we can solve it. there are other solutions like this but they seemed geared for just shoes so we want something that can do multiple things like gloves, hats, etc.
Basketball rebounding system- Ryan and I both like to play basketball and we thought of the idea of creating a system that is cheap, efficient, and easy to transport to help teams and players spend more time on the court then chasing after missed shots. This is a problem for many basketball players as everyone always misses shots so this will keep you on the court more. Basketball rebounding machines on the market are huge, expensive, and you can't transport them. So this product can be made much better and we want to do this.
heating steering wheel cover- having your hands freeze to death on a cold morning is one of the worst things out there so we wanted to create a cover that can heat your hands and keep them from falling off in the morning. I definitely have this problem in the winter and gloves don't always do the trick. There are a bunch of heated steering wheel covers out there so this seems like a problem that has already been solved for the most part.
multi-kitchen utensil- pots, pans, drainers, and colanders all take up lots of space and can make a cabinet look disorganized. We wanted to create tool that combines all these things into one tool that is easy to use and takes up little space. This is a problem for me as I like to cook so I have experienced messy cabinets and this would help me out a lot. There are no current solutions that combine pots and pans out there so this could be a good choice.

Problem Statement
Based on the survey administered on October 23, 2017, out of 216 people in the U.S., 57.2% confirmed that storing kitchen utensils along with pots and pans is a problem in their kitchen.
Summary
So far, Ryan and I have made great progress. We began work with several days of brainstorming problems in daily life. We were stuck and could not think of any major problems that we had in our daily lives. So, we began to think about areas in our lives that we were passionate about. Sports is a major part of our lives so we decided to take that route. We quickly found out that there was a solution to our idea about basketball and had to move on to our next best idea. The next idea we had on our decision matrix was the problem of storing kitchen utensils. That is the problem that we ran with. After conducting a survey out of 216 people, we found that the majority of people found this to be a legitimate problem. So we decided that the kitchen utensil problem is what we will work on for our capstone project.
