Reverse engineering is the process of taking apart a product and documenting it all so you know how it works. My partner and I came up with our possible ideas by looking at all of the additions that are on actual cars. Then we figured which ones would be the most probable for us to design for the Automoblox truck.

Stages of Reverse Engineering
Visual analysis- This is where you make an analysis on how the product looks such as color, shape, and patterns. Functional Analysis- This is where you analyze how the product works/functions and what causes it to function. Structural Analysis- Lastly, this where analyze how the product was built and you look at all the different components. As well as the structure of the product. |
GROUP NORMS
My Strengths: Brainstorming ideas, modeling and building the prototypes and writing good conclusions
My Weaknesses: Sketching the ideas that I have in my head and making the idw file technical drawings with all of the dimensions and tolerances.

Dad- He thought the car was very well done and looked good. He also thought it would be good for on and off road hauling in real life.
Mom- She thought that we put a good amount of thought into the car and that our improvement was a good idea. One suggestion that she gave me was to add some sort of flap or door to the back of the trailer.

My partner and I didn't really work together at all due to vacation time. So I finished the whole project myself. The final design In my opinion came out very nice and looked like what I had in mind. The inventor skills that I used to make this car and the trailer are most of the basic skills that I learned throughout the year.
Before After
As you can see it turned out a lot better than how the sketch looks. Some factors that must be considered when changing or enhancing a design is the relativity the enhancement has to the design. For example, you wouldn't be putting chain saw on the front of a car as an improvement. Something else to consider is the time and materials that are available at the time that you are making that enhancement or improvement. It is also important to document your brainstorming process because then you can look back on all of your ideas and narrow it down to just one. It also encourages creative ideas. Sketching your ideas are also very helpful because then you can get a general idea of how your ideas look and then either make improvements or scratch the whole thing. It also helps with dimensioning when it comes time to model or build.
